Our primary muse around here is a lil' bison named Montoya. While Montana is Spanish for, "Mountains,"
Montoya is Basque for "Hills and Valleys,"
through which bison roam.
His modern, minimal shape helps us connect the modern desire for simplicity with the beautifully complex territory in which we live.
Bison are the only animal on earth to run towards a storm when sensing a shift in the weather-finding the quickest and most effective way to get through it.
Joy chose a bison as her inspiration, as nod to her service in the US Army as a Combat Medic with a PTSD diagnosis. Rehabilitation units in the Army often have a bison as an emblem or symbol of resilience.
